Plant Biology: New publication from Hybrigenics' Customer in Nature Genetics

Paris, France - November 16

Hybrigenics’ customer Zach Lippman and his lab at CSHL discovered a new gene controlling flowering in tomato, and had Hybrigenics conduct a yeast two-hybrid screen in search of the molecular mechanisms.

This work was published online in Nature Genetics on November 11th, 2012 (see the article “Synchronization of the flowering transition by the tomato TERMINATING FLOWER gene” here).

This publication is an example of a fruitful collaboration that started only one year ago. Hybrigenics constructed a high complexity cDNA library from different tomato tissues (vegetative and reproductive meristems, leaf primordia with stems and floral buds) prepared by Zach Lippman’s team. This library was then used for a yeast two-hybrid screen of the TERMINATING FLOWER (TMF) protein. Hybrigenics ULTImate screening process helped shed light on the possible mechanisms by which TMF controls flower production.

"My interactions with the Hybrigenics team have been excellent. From the beginning of our collaboration involving library preparation through the point of completing two Y2H screens, the Hybrigenics team communicated promptly, clearly, and effectively. They were also extremely flexible on addressing our specific needs, and we have been very happy with the outcomes of our projects." Zach Lippman said.
