Odyssea Paris for breast cancer research

Paris, France - 05 October

In France,

1 in 10 women are affected by breast cancer,

50 000 new cases are diagnosed each year,

and there are 12 000 deaths annually.

Since 2009, Odyssea works with the Gustave Roussy Cancer campus and organises a running event every year in Paris. More than 2 millions euros has been collected and dedicated to breast cancer research and the improvement in the quality of life of the patients.

Again this year, Hybrigenics was happy to run for this cause.

On Sunday October 4th, we were at the Château de Vincennes Plaza in Paris to run the 10km and the 5 km. This year, thanks to every participants, 590 000 euros were collected!!!

We are looking forward to running next year and we hope many more will join us!

Hybrigenics is running for Odyssea against breast cancer

Paris, France - 4 October

Since 2002, Odyssea organises every year a running event to raise money for the breast cancer research and this year again, Hybrigenics is happy to run for this cause.

On Sunday October 4th, we will be at the Château de Vincennes Plaza in Paris and ready to begin the race.

All the money will go to Gustave Roussy Cancer campus.

Feel free to come to cheer on us!

Cell Biology: read in Int J Mol Sci. an article about new possible functions for Atox1 outside the cytoplasm

Paris, France - October

Our customers, Dr Wittung-Stafshede Pernilla and her colleague Dr Öhrvik Helena respectively at Uppsala University and Umeå University in Sweden have released an article entitled: Identification of New Potential Interaction Partners for Human Cytoplasmic Copper Chaperone Atox1: Roles in Gene Regulation?

They entrusted us with the screening of the human copper metallochaperone protein: Atox1, that play an important role in copper delivery from the cytosol to the Golgi apparatus. Previous studies suggested that Atox1 may also have a role outside the cytoplasm, particularly in the nucleus but it was yet to be determined.

They used our Yeast Two-Hybrid service to screen Atox1 against our complex human placenta library. We found 25 relevant interaction partners including 16 characterized proteins. Both ATP7A and ATP7B, two known partners of Atox1, were among the identified hits with high Predicted Biological Score (PBS). Thanks to our bioinformatics analysis our clients were able to deduce potential functions for these proteins depending on their localization, tissue distribution, sequence motifs and interaction networks. Among these proteins, 6 have been detected in the nucleus and several were known to be DNA and RNA binding partners. Some of these proteins bind metals suggesting that Atox1’s Cu-binding ability may play a role in the interactions. By cross-referencing all the information gathered the researchers were able to highlight potential protein-protein interaction networks connecting several DNA binding proteins with Atox1 thus suggesting a possible gene modulation role for this protein. It also allowed to speculate on several other functions for Atox1 that has yet to be explored.

This work was published on July 23rd, 2015 in International Journal of Molecular Science.
